LCpl, Jared Michael Lynchard, USMC, 23, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
A funeral service to honor Jared’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 15th at the Cherry Point Base Chapel in Havelock, NC, officiated by Chaplain J. Jon Neil. Interment will follow at the Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.
Born on November 30, 2000, in Plano, Texas, Jared leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, and compassion. Jared was a devoted Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, where his time was marked by his unwavering dedication to his country and his fellow soldiers. Known for his kind and compassionate spirit, Jared took the time to teach his comrades how to pray during their training, embodying his belief in the power of faith. He had a heart for missions and went on various trips, helping build homes for those in need with Vital Seed Ministry.
Beyond his military service, Jared was an individual with a deep sense of care and empathy. His passion for helping others extended to volunteering with disabled children at Camp Barnabus Christian Summer Camp where he showcased his genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of those around him. He loved children and was looking forward to being a father one day. Jared’s loving nature shone brightly in his relationships, as he was a devoted son, loving husband, and a caring brother.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Crystal Lopez Lynchard; parents, Steve and Anjanette Lynchard of Ellicott City, MD; sister, Alayna Lynchard of Ellicott City, MD; grandparents, Ruth Ann Gilliam, Anita McCoy, Joseph Castillo, and Sandy Lynchard; uncles and aunts, Tim and Molly Lynchard, Kris and Dori Johnson, and Erique Canales; his closest cousins, Foster, Elizabeth, and Christina Lynchard; and of course his Top Gun dogs, Goose and Maverick.
Jared was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim Lynchard, David Gilliam, and Charles McCoy.
