Janie Glover Finch Lamm

Janie Glover Finch Lamm, 91, of Morehead City, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Janie was born to the late Stephen and Eula Glover in Bailey NC on April 20, 1926. She grew up on a farm in Mount Pleasant and graduated from Bailey High School. She married the late Wilbur Wright Finch on January 25, 1944. They were a successful business team with numerous ventures including the Sportsman’s pier in Atlantic Beach, the first chair lift in the Smoky Mountains in Cherokee, NC, and the 1st two Hardees in the Raleigh area. After a time in New Bern with her 2nd husband, Janie retired in Morehead City. Janie will be remembered for her devotion to her family. She was the RummiKub and crossword puzzle champion. She was one of The Greatest Generation, and was cherished by all. We will miss Janie, a force to be reckoned with, who lived a rich life worthy of a great southern novel.

Janie is survived by her brother, Keith Glover, of Spring Valley, CA, daughters, Pat Ester of Beaufort, Marsha Gillis (Doug) of Charlotte, Debi Dudley (Bill) of Greensboro, and Jo Ellen Daughtrey (Tres) of Georgia; grandchildren, Kevin and Scott Cottrell (Carlyn), Amy Nokes (Tony), Stephanie Gillis, Jonathan, Matthew and Leah Dudley, Logan and Erin Daughtrey; great-grandchildren, Bryant, Andrew, Justin, Noelle, Molly Scott, Saylor, Blake and Alexis, and numerous extended family.

Family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City with funeral service at 6 p.m. officiated by Rev. Powell Osteen. Graveside service will be held 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 30th at Bailey Cemetery in Bailey, NC officiated by Rev. Keith Glover.
