Janice H. Conway “Nonnie”, 93, of Marshallberg, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
A funeral service to honor Janice’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 14th at Trinity United Methodist Church in Marshallberg, officiated by Rev. Andy Cockrell. Interment will follow at Victoria Community Cemetery in Marshallberg. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, December 13th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
Janice was born on June 6, 1931, to the late Vernon Roland Hill and Myrtle Lewis Hill. Born and raised in her beloved Down East hometown of Marshallberg, Janice graduated from Smyrna High School and was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Janice was also a devoted member of the Eastern Star where her commitment to this organization and the values it represents reflected her kind spirit and dedication to her community.
Janice’s early career included time spent at Smyrna High School, both as a cafeteria worker and as a school bus driver, roles that highlighted her nurturing spirit. She was known for her compassionate care, assisting many families through her work as a caregiver.
In her leisure time, Janice found great joy in gardening, nurturing her plants, and enjoying the bountiful harvests they provided. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she cherished each moment taking care of them, showering them with love and attention.
Janice will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife of 29 years, a wonderful mother, and a proud Nonnie to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her loving children, LaVerne Taylor (Murray), Holly Spivey, and Charles Conway, all of Marshallberg; grandchildren, Jeremy A. Taylor, Melody C. Taylor, Dustin N. Spivey (Jessica), and Blair W. Spivey; great-grandchildren, Andrew C. Conway, Carly H. Conway, Graham W. Conway, Zoey L. Taylor, Wyatt L. Goodwin, and Sophia A. Willis; cousins, Jim Cox, Sandy Evans, and Sheila Jones, all of Little Washington; niece, Linda H. Morris of Raleigh; and her furry friends, her dogs, Sailorjerry and Gonzo “Bonzo”.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Wallace Conway Jr.; brother, Lester Norris Hill; and nephew, Steven Hill.
