Janice P. Bell, 97, of Raleigh, died Thursday January 5, at Rex Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Munden Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
Janice Peterson was born on May 22, 1914 at home in Beaufort, NC. Her parents were Hanson and Elma Peterson. She was the second of seven children. She graduated from Beaufort High School in 1931, she was 17 years old. She met the love of her life, Wade and married him April 11, 1936, and they were married for 61 years when he passed away at the age of 83.
Janice and her husband worked at the shirt factory. She also worked other jobs during her life, at the theatre, drugstore, A&P store, and Sears. She retired in 1972 at the age of 59.
After retirement Janice continued to be an active member of First Baptist Church in Morehead City for 66 years.
At a retirement dinner for her husband, they received a key to the city.
She had two children Joyce Stalker from Portsmouth, VA and Libby Hall of Raleigh, NC: four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
