Jan Spickett, 84, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at her home.

A graveside service to honor Janet’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 18th at Gethsemane Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Wesley Holmes. 

Jan was born on August 31, 1939, in Northville, Michigan, to the late Lloyd and Beulah Hattis. Young and in love, she married her sweetheart, Bill Spickett, and shortly after in 1957, they made the move to the coast of North Carolina. 

Jan had incredible organizational skills which were put to good use throughout her career as a secretary in the Carteret County Public School System. Jan's talents and skills knew no bounds - a master quilter and knitting enthusiast, she created beautiful pieces that she loved to share with others. Jan could sew anything and always did so with precision.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 68 years, William “Bill” Spickett; daughter, Cheryl Rogers of Grimesland, NC; sons, Mike Spickett (Susan) of Ardmore, OK, Eddie Spickett (Fay), and David Spickett (Simona), all of Morehead City; sister, Karen Morton of Morehead City; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, including Abigail Rogers of the home. 

In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Spickett; and granddaughter, Lacey Thorne.
