Janet (Gillikin) Cannon
October 12, 1935 — February 7, 2017
Janet Gillikin Cannon, 81, of Bettie, passed away on February 7, 2017 at Harborview Rehabilitation and Health Care in Morehead City.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Welcome Home Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow the service at Carteret Memorial Gardens off Hwy 101.
Janet was a devoted mother and grandmother. She graduated from Beaufort High School in 1952. She was a lifelong member of Welcome Home Freewill Baptist Church.
Janet is survived by her daughters, Sharon Starks and husband Michael, Gail Zurenko and husband George; son, Joey Cannon and wife Minerva; sister Eleanor Gillikin; grandchildren, Mark Hancock, Philip Jarrett, Stephanie Cannon, Joshua Cannon, Becky Starks; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Cannon, Sr.; parents; Guy C. Gillikin, Sr. and Josephine Gillikin Gillikin; brothers, Stanley Gillikin, Guy C. Gillikin, Jr., and Cecil G. Gillikin, Sr.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service.
