Jane Garland Halstead

Jane Garland Halstead, 73, of Beaufort, passed away Friday, November 2­, 2018, at Carolina East Medical Center.

Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at North River United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. David Jones.

Jane was a dedicated social worker with the Department of Social Services for 20 plus years. She was a loving and compassionate mother, grandmother and friend to many. Her exuberant smile would light up the room and turn anyone’s bad day into a bright day. Jane served the Lord for most of her adult life at North River United Methodist Church. The church family was her extended family and meant the world to her. She was a passionate piano player and part of the choir at the church.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Whitehead of Beaufort; sons, Mark Halstead and wife, Ashlyn, of Harkers Island, Stephen Halstead of Richmond, VA, Brian Halstead and wife, Lisa, of Charlotte, NC and Matthew Halstead of Beaufort; and grandchildren, Corey Whitehead and wife Shelly, Amanda Whitehead Boyd, Brittany Wheatley, Christopher Halstead, Eden Halstead, Noah Halstead, James Halstead, Ella Halstead, Pete Halstead, Lucas Halstead and Keri Williams; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin Boyd, Harper Boyd and Mason Whitehead.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland O. Halstead, Jr.; son, Dusty Halstead, III; and son-in-law, Glen Whitehead.

Family will receive friends following the service on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at North River United Methodist Church.
