Jan Arthur Manning, 86, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at Pruitt Health - Crystal Coast, after bravely facing an extended illness. He is now at peace.

Born on August 10, 1938, in Bradenton, Florida, Jan was the beloved son of George and Polly Manning. Following high school, Jan proudly served in the United States Navy for four years. Jan later pursued his education at Florida Southern University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree, majoring in accounting.

While working in San Francisco, Jan met Betty on a blind date and the rest is history. They were blessed with 54 wonderful years. 

Jan was an avid lover of the water, owning 13 boats throughout his life. He dedicated 35 years of his career to kitchen and bath remodeling in Florida where he worked with his business partner, Mark. 

Upon retiring, Jan and Betty settled on the North Carolina coast, where they were blessed with numerous lasting friendships.

Jan will be remembered as a great friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warm spirit and kindness will be deeply missed.

Jan is survived by his devoted wife, Betty, and their last Schnauzer, Jack. He also leaves behind his nephew and wife, Matthew and Chris Manning; his sister-in-law, Becki Manning; and Betty’s step-brother, Brian Arnold.

In addition to his parents, Jan was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Manning.
