James "Russell" Murphy

James "Russell " Murphy, 77, of Newport, died Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.
Mr. Murphy was a member of Croatan Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Gethsemane Memorial Park with the Rev. Scott Cook officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Speight Murphy of the home; two sons, James Keith Murphy of Swansboro and Russell Maston Murphy of Newport; two daughters, Terry Lee Murphy of Morehead City and Carol Jean Burchette of Clayton; two brothers, George Douglas Murphy of Raleigh and Thomas Wayne Murphy of Reidsville; three sisters, Norma Jean Land of Asheville, Margaret Ann Ruth of Greensboro, and Sarah Chatham of Eden; three grandchildren, Jonathan Murphy, Steven Murphy, and Kelly Allen Griffith; and great grandchild, William Jonathan Murphy.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at Munden Funeral Home.
