James "Jimmy" Earl Tolson

James "Jimmy" Tolson, 70, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, February 27­, 2019, at Carteret Health Care.

His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Mitchell Parker. Interment will follow at Amariah Garner Cemetery.

Jimmy was born and raised in Carteret County. He loved the outdoors and became a farmer at an early age, which he continued his entire life. Most recently, he worked for Temple Farms in a leadership position. He was a reserved person that enjoyed his solitude and playing his guitar.

He is survived by his brother, Leon "Tommy" Tolson and wife Judy of Williamston, NC; and paternal aunt, Louise Tolson of Newport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Althea Tolson.

Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church.
