James "Jimmy" Hugh Hamrick Jr.

James “Jimmy” Hugh Hamrick Jr., 49, of Cape Carteret, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 3, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Pastor Blake Larson. He will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Morehead City at a later date.

James or Jimmy as he was fondly known, was born on April 29, 1972, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to the late James and Jean Hamrick. Graduating from West Carteret High School in 1990, Jimmy furthered his education at Carteret Community College. As a devoted EMT, Jimmy used his skills to assist numerous patients over the years, working in Morehead City and Wilmington, as well as the Wildwood Fire Department.

Jimmy never met a stranger and always made everyone feel welcome. He loved to cook, sharing his creations with friends and family. If there was a race on TV, you could be sure he’d be cheering on his favorite driver.

He is survived by his sisters, Patricia “Lynn” DeRosia and husband Neal of Cape Carteret and Libba Hines and husband Thomas of Newport; nephew, Ben DeRosia of Cape Carteret; and furry friend Zues.
