James "Jim" E. Sutton

James “Jim” E. Sutton, Sr., 72, of Newport, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, February 5­, 2019, at his home.

Jim was a talented man who loved to build things. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing. He loved and cherished his wife and dogs, Redman and Bridgid.

He is survived by his wife, Sue B. Sutton of the home; daughter, Nicole Gaunt and husband Jonathan of England; sons, James Earl Sutton, Jr. and wife Angie of Ayden, NC and Rocky Leonard Lawing and wife Christina of Kannapolis, NC; sister, Shirley Jerome of New Bern; grandchildren, Amy Howard, Cody Sutton, Ryan Lawing, Alexis Lawing, Breanna Lawing, Kristian Gaunt; 3 great-grandchildren; nieces, Angela Watkins, Ginger Denisov; and nephew, Steven Jerome.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ronald Sutton and Bennie Bell Sutton.
