James "Jim" William Schaefers

April 13, 1961 — August 23, 2021

Stella & California

James "Jim" William Schaefers, 60, of Penryn, California, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at his vacation home in Stella, North Carolina.

Jim was born on April 13, 1961, in Freeport, New York, to the late Madeleine Dodson. After graduating from Norte Del Rio High School, he furthered his education at Sacramento State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

Working as a Sergeant with the Sacramento County Sherriff’s Office, Jim was a dedicated servant to his community for 27 plus years. His loyalty and commitment were evident to all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

Jim enjoyed life to the fullest, whether he was going to various drag races, working on cars, woodworking, or just having a beer. His appreciation for a good meal was certainly well known, going out to eat was always a favorite but even more, he enjoyed barbequing and smoking meat on the grill for his friends and family. As an outdoor man, there was nothing more enjoyable than spending time on his 13.5 acres of land in California. Family meant everything to Jim, his love and appreciation for each of them was amazing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Schaefers of the home; daughters, Jenny Morrow of Placerville, CA, Rachel Chandler and husband Casey of Eugene, OR, Tiffany DiPinto and husband Blake of Cameron Park, CA, and Sam Akers and husband Adam of Hubert, NC; sons, Nate Jopson and wife Victoria of Loomis, CA and Jimmy Schaefers Jr. of Sacramento, CA; brothers, Walter Schaefers of Sacramento, CA, Danny Schaefers of Sacramento, CA, Jess Parker of South Carolina, Jean Parker of Sacramento, CA, and Joe Parker of Arizona; 14 grandchildren, Taylor, Jacob, Logan, Ayden, Jackson, Jocelyn, Mackenzie, Maddie, Zephyr, Olivia, Zoey, Deegan, Lincoln and Wyatt; and furry buddy, Izzy.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, JD; and service companion, Bella.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr., Triangle, VA 22172.
