James “Jim” Monroe Chandler, 79, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City with Rev. Tom Supplee officiating.
James served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed his friends and loved being with his family. He was both a loving father and grandfather.
James is survived by his daughter, Glenda Hopkins and husband David of Newport; son, Fabious James Chandler and wife Yngvild of Clayton, NC; brother, William Franklin Chandler and wife Maxine of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Brian Jackson Chandler, Emily Paige Hopkins, Kristian Fabious Chandler and Kaitlyn Celeste Chandler; great grandchild, Emma-Grace Jean Chandler; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 34 years, Shelby Jean Chandler; parents, Elisha and
Orpha “Elvira” (Cuttshaw) Chandler; and many brothers and sisters.
The family will welcome friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
