James “JC” Ellis, 75, of Newport, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Carolina East Medical Center.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018, at the Munden Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Manley Rose. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
JC honorably served in the United States Army. He attended church at Refuge Fellowship on Harkers Island.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria Gray Ellis, of the home; daughters, Jeanie E. Buchanan and husband, Charles Frederick, of Newport, Carla M. Ellis of Newport and Elizabeth M. Payne and husband, William “Bill”, of Newport; sister, Viola Kunke of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Robert Ellis of Columbus, Ohio, Paul Ellis of Newport and Al Ellis of Newport; grandchildren, Melissa L. Ward and husband, William J., Charles Frederick Buchanan II and fiancé, Tanisha Carver, Harold Roger Pollock III and wife, Lauren, Timothy Allen Pollock and wife, Lydia, Joshua Carl Ellis, Joetta Mae Anderson and husband, Raymond, Jonathan Carlise Payne and wife, Emelia, Joanna Marie Payne; great-grandchildren, Myranda L. Buchanan, Triniti Kruszewski, Arianna Mae Ward, Camden F. Buchanan, Braxton S. Ward, Annabelle Pollock, Autumn Pollock, Desean Anderson, Jevon Anderson, Tiana Anderson, Jonathan Carlise Payne II and Abbilynn Payne.
He was preceded in death by parents, Zebbie and Mazie Ellis.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
