James William Forman, Jr. (Bill), 73, went to be with His Heavenly Father on September 30, 2023, at CarolinaEast Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born to Doris and James William Forman on December 18, 1949, in Roanoke, Virginia and raised in Fairmont, West Virginia. Bill attended Fairmont College in West Virginia before joining the Air Force. While serving, Bill started working towards his civil engineering degree at North Carolina State University. He graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering and an MS in Coastal Engineering in 1979. Through his time there, he developed a strong love of the NC State Wolfpack. Bill was well known for his work in civil and coastal engineering and left his mark on various projects up and down the East Coast.
Bill was an avid golfer and assisted in the start up of the local Tee It Up golf tournament that raised money to support local high school golf programs and later funded scholarships for high school golf athletes.
Bill is survived by his wife, Susan; his beloved daughters, Maggie (Brent) of Morehead City, Sarah Holt (Sam) of Greensboro; granddaughter, Catherine; younger sister, Lynn Coppedge (Bill) of Hendersonville, NC; nephews, Evan (Kristen) and Holt; and great nephews Hudson and Weston.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
