James Artis Wells

James Artis Wells, 56, of Beaufort, passed away Thursday, November 22­, 2018, at Carteret Health Care.

His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at The Sanctuary at 8125 Highway 70 East in Newport. There will be a time of food and fellowship following the service for family and close friends.

James was employed for 22 years with the North Carolina State Ports Authority where he loved his job as a forklift operator. He developed many close friendships with his co-workers.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Wells, of the home; sons, Kevin Wells of Beaufort and Aaron Wells and Ashlee Thompson, of Raleigh; step-daughter, Tina Bauer and husband, John, of Twin Falls, ID; sisters, June Garner and husband Donald, Vivian Wells and Tammie Schaaf, all of Beaufort; brothers, Lawrence Wells and wife Cheryl, Ted Wells and wife Bessie, and Ray Wells, all of Beaufort; step-father, Donald Graham of Mill Creek; step-sister, Donna French and husband, Richard, of Smyrna; aunts, Vivian Becton of Beaufort and Ruth Wells Kallas of Indiana; grandchildren, Rinoa Wells, Matthew Wells, Haylee Wells, Alexander Bauer, Rebekah Bauer and Tucker Bauer; mother-in-law, Ginger Benton of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Wells Graham; father, Eugene Wells; father-in-law, Ronald L. Benton; and brother-in-law, Bradley J. Schaaf.
