James Vernon Tolson

James Vernon Tolson, 88, of Harlowe, NC died Friday, July 15, 2011 peacefully at home. He has gone to be with the Lord.

Services will be held 11:00 am Monday at the Harlowe United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Simms officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Mr. Tolson served in the U. S. Army in Germany during WWII and was a faithful member of Harlowe United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Florence Conner Tolson; son, Blair Tolson; sister, Louise Tolson of Newport; and grandchildren, Patrick Tolson, Naasha Sanford, Jeremy Reed and Shelly Reed.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Tolson Sanford; brothers, Thomas Tolson, Lynn Tolson, and Allen Tolson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
