James Alan Rose

January 5, 1935 — April 5, 2013

James A. Rose, 78, of Harkers Island, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at his home surrounded by family.

A funeral will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday at the Core Sound  Water Fowl Museum with Rev. Ricky Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery.

James was a lead guitar player and a lover of music his whole life. He was a commercial fisherman in his younger years, and became a boat builder. For the last 25 years he was known for his model boat building, which he sold throughout the country. He loved being with his family whom he shared stories from the past and everybody who came to his door was family! He shared many words of encouragement.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Rose of the home: daughters Sandra Wilson of Morehead City, and Rhonda Crump of Morehead City: sons Alan Rose of Otway, Rodney Rose of Otway, and Jeffery Rose of Harkers Island: one sister Cynthia Donahue of Clinton: ten grandchildren Ariana Wilson of South River, Blake Bond of Morehead City, Cuyler Crump of Morehead City, Callon Crump of USMC, Cana Crump of Morehead City, Cayden Crump of Green Bay, WI, Alan Rose, Jr., of Harkers Island, Jessica Willis of Harkers Island, Heather Rose of Beaufort, Rebecca Rose of Beaufort, and Jeffery Rose, Jr., of Harkers Island: six great grandchildren Jonathan Rose, David Rose, Ethan Rose, Matthew Willis, Noah Willis, and Stryker Willis.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild Cameo Crump, parents Dallis and Mary Rose, and sister Sylvia Gillikin.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Monday at the Core Sound Water Fowl Museum.
