James Robertson

James C. Robertson, Sr., "J.C.", 78, of Newport, died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at his home.

Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Mr. Robertson was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He retired from the United States Army and Civil Service with Cherry Point. He loved tennis, golf, trees, the ocean, and boats. He loved being the Captain of the boat. He was the Commanding Officer of every vessel he boarded.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Robertson of the home; daughters Donna Byrd and husband Curtis of Dunn, Kim Hall and husband Robbie of Newport, Kim Sanborn and husband Mike of Newport, and Jaime Robertson of Wilmington; sons James Robertson, Jr. of Newport, Tommy Robertson and wife Nancy of Newport, Steve Hill and wife Rhonda of Louisburg, and Carl Hill of Newport; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Bill Robertson of Charleston, SC, and Tom Robertson of New Bern; and sisters Christine Mitchell of Harlowe, and Mildred Fisher of Newport.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday at Munden Funeral Home.
