James A Privette

Dr. James “Jim” A. Privette, of Newport, formerly of Kinston, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Harborview Health Care Center of Morehead City.

Memorial Service to be held Friday, January 22 at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, Kinston, with reception and visitation to follow.

Dr. Privette was a man of great faith who lived his life always serving the Lord. He exhibited that in his love for the church and Jesus Christ, serving in numerous leadership positions at the First Presbyterian Church in Kinston and Morehead City. He found great joy in helping those in need by participating in several mission trips both domestic and international. He also expressed that faith to all he met in his professional life. After graduating from Wake Forest University and the University of North Carolina Dental School in Chapel Hill, Jim moved to Kinston where he practiced dentistry prior to his retirement to the Crystal Coast.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth P. Privette of the home; son, Jim Privette and wife Beth of Oriental and their children, Taylor and Cameron; daughter, Julie Privette of Morehead City; sisters in law, Jeanie P. Sutton of Burlington, and Davidina P. Tutwiler and husband Dick of Prince George, VA; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews; and his sweet, loving cat, Tiger.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Harborview for loving and caring for Jim over the past couple of years.
