James Ottis Guthrie, Sr., 71, of Salter Path, North Carolina, passed away Saturday at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Tuesday March 24, 2015 at Salter Path United Methodist Church with Rev. Clyde Chezem officiating. Burial will follow at Gales Creek Cemetery in Newport, North Carolina.
James is survived by his wife, Mary Yates Guthrie of Salter Path, North Carolina; a daughter, Sherry Melissa Dudley of Newport, NC; a son, James O. Guthrie, Jr. of Newport; a step son, Wendell Yates of Mississippi. Mr. Guthrie is also survived by three brothers, Delmas Guthrie, Vernon Guthrie, and German Guthrie, all of Salter Path, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, Theodore Guthrie and Rita Willis Guthrie, Mr. Guthrie was preceded in death by his brother “Buck” Guthrie.
The family will receive friends Monday March 23, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Salter Path United Methodist Church.
