James Hartwell Morton, 73 of Morehead City, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Carolina East Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Pole Creek Baptist Church in Candler, NC officiated by Kevin Morton and Dennis Thurman.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Bowers Morton of the home; daughter, Angela M. Chambers and husband, Nathan of Morehead City; son, James Kevin Morton and wife, Clarissa of Weaverville; brother, Archie W. Morton and wife, Margaret of Hudson, NC; grandchildren, Sydni D. Morton of Weaverville, Logan Z. Morton of Weaverville, Kenneth Ethan Chambers of Morehead City, Rachael A. Chambers of Morehead City.
He was preceded in death by parents, Leonard and Edna Morton; brother, Leonard E. Morton; sister-in-law, Tamara A. Sehorn; granddaughter, Hannah R. Chambers.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Pole Creek Baptist Church in Candler, NC.
He retired in 2002 from BASF after 35 years of service.
