James Earl Horton, 74, of Cape Carteret, died Sunday, December 12, 2010.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Ahoskie Cemetery in Ahoskie, NC.
Mr. Horton was a 10 year veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a heavy equipment operator building roads in the San Diego area.
He is survived by his brothers, Gilbert S. Horton of Donalsonville, GA, C. Dale Horton of Suffolk, VA, and Daniel C. Horton of Olivia, NC; sister, Phyllis Horton Warren of Morehead City, NC; three grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Mark Horton, daughter, Marie Annette Horton, mother Lillian C. Horton and father, George Stanley Horton.
