James G. Guthrie, Sr., age 70, of Williston went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday morning, September 21, 2011 where he joined a grand reunion with the blessed saints that welcomed his homecoming.James was born on September 6, 1941 on Harkers Island.
He is survived by his wife and love of his life, June Carolyn (Gillikin) Guthrie, married on November 13, 1961; Three sons, James G. Guthrie, Jr. of Straits, Kendall (Kendy) J. Guthrie, of Jacksonville, FL , Stacy E. Guthrie, of Clayton, Sister, Katie Lee Gaskill, of Sea Level and Brother, Stacy (Dee Boy) Guthrie, of Otway. James (Poppy) and June Carolyn have 9 Grandchildren; Jesse, Cara Sue, Kristopher, Ashton, Jamie Louise, Jessica, Hunter, Jordan and Zoey. James is also survived by his beloved cat J.J. and many loving Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends. James was preceded in death by his loving Grandfather, Stacy F. Guthrie, Mother, Flora G. Nixon and Brother, Joseph.
A Visitation will be held at the Williston, United Methodist Church at 4 pm on Sunday, September 25th with a Service to Celebrate his life to follow at 6 pm. Coefficients of the service will be The Reverend James R. Willis and The Reverend Bud Morton.
In Lieu of Flowers the Family requests that donations be made to the Williston UMC Memorial fund, care of Fran Nelson, 184 Old Nassau Rd, Smyrna, NC 28579.
