James Edward Guthrie

James Edward Guthrie, 71, died Tuesday October 16, 2012 at his home in Morehead City, NC.

James was the son of Edward Earl Guthrie and Thelma Willis Guthrie. He played football for the Morehead City Eagles and was a member of the team when they won the Eastern North Carolina AAC Championship. James received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Duke University in 1963, which he attended on a football scholarship. He was a member of the Duke football team when they won the Cotton Bowl in 1961.
He is survived by his loving wife Sallie Beam Guthrie; daughter Anna Karleskint of Deltona, FL: son James Edward Guthrie Jr. and wife Kathy of Longwood, FL; grandson Ryan Karleskint and wife Robin; granddaughter Jacqueline Karleskint: and two sisters Joni Duggan and husband Ed; sister Shirley Ellis and husband Rodney of Morehead City.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Earl Guthrie and Thelma W. Guthrie, and a sister Ellen Hewitt.
