James “Mark” Gillikin, age 26, died November 17, 2011, in Miami, Florida.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Munden Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Hooper officiating.
He was a 2003 graduate of East Carteret High School in Beaufort, NC. He spent the last two years living in Waynesboro, TN, working with special needs patients. His love for those patients inspired him to move to Miami, where he enrolled in a nursing program to earn his degree.
He is survived by his son, Ethan Chase Gillikin, of Marshallberg, NC; his mother, Jerri Jones Willis, and step-father, Doland Willis, of Waynesboro, TN; his father, Ivan Gillikin, of Suffolk, VA, and step-mother, Teresita Gillikin, of Smyrna, NC; brothers, Curtis Gillikin of Suffolk, VA, and Doland Willis, Jr., of Fayetteville, NC; sister, Shelby Gillikin of Smyrna, NC; grandmothers, Martha Jones of Beaufort, NC, Phyllis Gillikan of Otway, NC, and Marie Libby of Miami, FL; aunts and uncles, Jonathan and Kathy Willis of Morehead City, NC, Andy and Theresa Taylor of Sea Level, NC, Shaun and Judy Little of Miami, FL, Jamie Jones of Beaufort, NC, Walter (Gene) Jones of Wanchese, NC, and Donnie Jones of Florida; great-aunts, Kay Golden of Bettie, NC, Nancy Piner of Davis Shore, NC, Rosemary Perry of Beaufort, NC, Linda Perry of Gloucester, NC, Beadie Perry of Morehead City, NC, and Linda Pittman of Beaufort, NC; as well as numerous cousins and friends.
Mark will be missed by many, especially his Mom. His short time here touched many lives, and he will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Friday at Munden Funeral Home.
