James C. Fox Jr.

July 2, 1966 — June 25, 2021

Morehead City

James C. Fox Jr. passed away at his home in Morehead City, NC on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the age of 54. James was known to his family as “Buddy” and to his friends as “Fox”.

James was born in Morehead City, North Carolina on July 2, 1966. James is predeceased by his parents, James C. Fox Sr. and Jean Best Fox.

He attended West Carteret High School where he excelled in several high school sports. He was known for his speed, agility, and talents in football which led him to set school records.

James later had a successful career in carpentry in which he worked several years at the family business, “Fox Construction Company”. Through his work, he contributed to the construction of many staple buildings throughout Morehead City.

James enjoyed sports, movies, and video games. And he never missed an opportunity to go fishing. He was very talented and skilled. There wasn't anything he couldn't do… especially dance! He was most known for his love and passion for music. Many will also remember him for his dancing whenever and wherever the music was played.

No matter what he was doing or who he was with, his wonderful sense of humor always brought contagious joy and laughter. He displayed a unique energy for life. He carried himself with a bright smile, twinkle in his eye, and a confident walk. James Fox had an unmatched charisma about him. He was outgoing and personable, and many have said that “he never met a stranger.” He always greeted people like he had known them all his life. He found something in common with every person he met. He was an intelligent, gifted, brave, strong man who made friends everywhere he went.

Fox was a good friend to a lot of people. He is known for his generosity and willingness to always be there to help others, asking nothing in return. He would help out wherever he could, however he could, and whenever he could. His word was his bond. If he said he was going to do something for you, he made sure to do it no matter the cost.

He loved his family unconditionally, and he loved the Lord. His generosity, passion for music and dancing, and contagious laughter was loved dearly. But he was most loved for his heart. James Fox had a heart of gold that will continue to be remembered and cherished by so many.

James is lovingly remembered by his wife, Edith Fox of Newport; daughter, Shyann Fox of Newport; sons, James C. Fox III and wife Katherine of Virginia Beach, VA, and Justin Fox and companion Brooke Hicks of Morehead City; sisters, Lisa Moseley of Raleigh, Cheryl Thackston of Raleigh, April Nellums and husband Terrence of Washington, Christie Harris, and husband Caesar of Greenville and Jenine Fox of Greenville; brothers, Terry Fox of Morehead City and Stephen Fox of Washington State; grandchildren, Aaliyah Fox and Riley, both of Newport; first wife, Carla Fox of Greenville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives.
