James “Jamie” Edward Duclos, 50, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away at his home Tuesday, April 1st, 2025.
A memorial service to honor Jamie’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday April 7th at Broad Creek Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Ben Ball. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Jamie will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Jamie was born on September 29th, 1974, in Morehead City, NC to Paul and Mary Frances Duclos.
Jamie loved basketball and never missed a shot. He was a devoted Micheal Jordan fan, with the Chicago Bulls being his favorite team. Jamie enjoyed camping, boating and swimming. He enjoyed eating out with “Kountry Kitchen” being his favorite.
He never tired of riding to see the wild horses at Carrot Island, wild turkeys in the Newport farm fields, and the billy goats on highway 24.
Jamie was a special child, and he loved with all his heart. He was never treated as handicapped by his family or friends. Above all Jamie was a special and remarkable man who brought much happiness and joy to those around him.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Paul and Mary Frances Duclos of Newport, NC; dedicated and special sister, Shelly Duclos of Newport, NC; aunts, Lynn Newman of Salter Path, NC, Kathleen Nielsen and Family of Westfield, MA, MaryJane O’Connell and Family, of Westfield, MA, and Dolly Willis and Family of Sneads Ferry, NC; uncles, Marvin Newman (Ann) of Newport, NC, Gordon Lawerence of Newport, NC, and Tommy Duclos and Family of Westfield, MA; cousins, Gordy Lawerence, Matthew Newman (Lexie), Meagen Newman (Al), Landyn Foster, Brylee Newman, all of Newport, NC, and Kim Censabella (Micheal) and Family of Springfield, MA.
Jamie was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Eula Belle Newman; paternal grandparents, Jim and Tess Duclos; maternal great grandmother, Sallie Willis; aunt, Debbie Lawerence; and uncle, Romaine Willis.
