James G. "Jim" Davis, 85, of Morehead City, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Carolina House.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel. The graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Friday at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Charleston, SC.
Mr. Jim was born in Los Angeles, California to the late Gilbert and Rebecca Toole Davis. He graduated from North Charleston High School in 1944 and attended Clemson College. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years, and then graduated from the University of South Carolina. After graduating he rejoined the US Navy as an officer, and worked for the Ratheon Corporation under contract for the Navy, and retired from civil service at Cherry Point. He was a member of the Officer Club and American Legion.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Leva and Haskell Owen of Raleigh; niece, Cherlyn Owen Hall of Lexington,KY; three great-nieces, Barbara Rebecca Hall, Betsy Cherlyn Estes, and Brenna Joy Hall; and one great-nephew, Carter Owen Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 - B Wellness Dr, Greenville, NC 27834.
