James Rufus Brinson

James Rufus Brinson, 56, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on February 4, 2024, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The family will celebrate his life privately.

We mourn the loss of our husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Jim was taken from his family way too soon. He fought the fight.

Jim loved to travel with his family, pack the car for a day trip or adventure. He loved to go to Myrtle Beach or the mountains. He took his son to many car shows or Monster Truck Shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman “Shorty” and Lena “Snooks” Brinson; his in-laws, Wesley and Carole Jones; brother, Herman “Buddy” and wife Margaret Ann Brinson; and sister, Sharon Opdycke and husband, Steve.

He is survived by his wife, Tracy Jones Brinson; daughter, Leena “Leenabug” Brinson and friend David; son, James Brinson; precious granddaughter, Aubrey Rain “Bree”; sisters, Margaret Ferebee and husband Burt and Amanda “Mandy” Krementz and husband Artie; also several nieces and nephews.
