James David Abshear

James David Abshear, 68, of Newport, died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at his home.
The church and family will host a memorial service 11:00 am Monday. December 29, 2014 at Cape Carteret Baptist Church.
James served in the US Navy for over 30 years, and was decorated with the purple heart. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer 4.
He is survived by a daughter Tirzah Sarro of Winston-Salem; a son Michael Abshear and wife Peggy of Cape Carteret; and five grandchildren Michelle Skipper, Emily Espinosa, Zachery Sarro, Isaac Sarro, and Scott Sarro.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Abshear, and his parents James and Victoria Abshear.
