Jackie Cavenaugh, 71, of Broad Creek, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center.
A memorial service to honor Jackie’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 22nd at St. James United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Joseph Parks.
Jackie was born on August 29, 1952, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Her 42-year career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Carteret General Hospital in the Emergency Room showcased her profound dedication to caring for those in need. Her dedication to St. James United Methodist Church for over 25 years exemplified her unwavering faith and commitment to serving others. She was a cherished member of the community and touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.
Beyond her professional life, Jackie loved living on the coast. She enjoyed beach music, boating, and pool parties. Her face would light up when she was surrounded by her grandchildren, whom she adored and supported wholeheartedly in all their athletic endeavors.
A true friend to many, Jackie valued the time spent with her companions. Whether it was exploring new destinations through travel or tending to her garden with vibrant flowers, she found happiness in every moment shared with loved ones.
Jackie shared an incredible bond of love and partnership with her husband Mike for 42 wonderful years. Their enduring marriage stood as a testament to the strength of their connection and the love they shared.
Jackie will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and love that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Mike Cavenaugh; daughter, Tona Draughon (Stephen) of Broad Creek, NC; mother, Janice Rooks Tolar of Broad Creek; brother, John Robert Tolar V (Beth) of Broad Creek; grandchildren, Hunter Draughon of Morehead City, NC and Sophie Draughon of Greenville, NC; and nieces, Brooke Fitch of New Bern and Jennifer Tolar of Goldsboro, NC.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father, John Robert Tolar IV.
