Jack Camp

Jack Lewis Camp, 83, of Morehead City, NC, died peacefully on May 19, 2010, at Harborview Health Care Center in Morehead City, NC.
Born December 25, 1926, in Birmingham, AL, he was the son of the late Ruie Odell Camp and Laura Elizabeth Powell Camp. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Ann Sayre Camp.
Jack and Shirley were successful entrepreneurs with two businesses over 50 years, Camp's Concrete Placing and Finishing in Miami, FL and LaFayette Bed & Breakfast in Geneva, NY. He was actively involved in his churches, Miami Springs Baptist Church, Miami Springs, FL and First Baptist Church, Geneva, NY. Jack donated many hours of his carpentry and mason skills to church building committees and to Habitat for Humanity. He was a "Jack of all Trades" and loved to help everyone any way he could
Jack enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and camping with friends. He and Shirley traveled extensively by motor home in the US and Europe. He was known for keeping in touch with family and friends by sending cards, interesting newspaper clippings, etc. and making frequent phone calls. In his final years, he loved gardening and watching birds.
Jack is survived by his son, Curtis Camp; daughter, Lisa Camp and her husband, Campbell Tellman; daughter, Connie Chester and her husband, Jim Chester; five grandchildren, Sharon Chester, Derek Anderson, John Chester, Cory Adcock-Camp and Callie Bosch; six brothers and sisters and 18 nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to your local Habitat for Humanity. Jack made an anatomical donation to the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. A celebration of his life will be held this summer in Georgia. Condolences can be made to the family at www.mundenfuneralhome.net..
