Iris Jarvis Fulcher

Iris Jarvis Fulcher, 92, of Atlantic, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Self presiding.

Ms. Fulcher was a member of Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church, having served many positions throughout the years.  She was a trustee of Campbell University for 16 years.  She also served as director of Carteret County Chamber of Commerce, director of County Bank and Trust Co. and chairman of US 70 Association.  She was a partner of Driftwood Enterprises at Cedar Island, which included a motel, restaurant, campground, and store and a partner of the Red and White supermarket in Atlantic.  She was an avid hunter and bill fisherman, having the Big Rock Blue Marlin fishing tournament dedicated to her in 1974.

She is survived by a son, Clayton Fulcher III and wife June of Atlantic; two grandsons, Clayton Fulcher IV of Tennessee and John Michael Fulcher and wife Krisha of Homasassa, FL; granddaughter, Melinda Davis and husband William “Buddy” of Beaufort; great grandson, Charles Austin Fulcher of the US Navy; three great granddaughters, Jasmine Davis, Kelly Davis and Megan Davis; a great great granddaughter, Emily Davis of Beaufort; and nephew, David Hansen of Straits.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Fulcher, Jr.; parents, David and Irene Jarvis; a brother, Troy Jarvis and wife Virginia; and a sister, Erma Jarvis Hansen and husband Wermund.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, July 8, 2016 at Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church.
