Inez Baker

Inez Baker, 88, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at home.

A graveside service to honor Inez’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 14^th at Carteret Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Richard Patterson. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 14^th at Munden Funeral Home.

Inez was born on October 19, 1935, in Beaufort, North Carolina, to the late Lloyd and Callie Smith. She was a woman filled with boundless love and compassion. Known to be the “glue” of the family, her nurturing nature and unwavering devotion to her family were the pillars upon which their lives were built.  Family meant everything to Inez, and she will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Known for her amazing cooking skills, Inez had a flair for creating delicious meals that brought joy and happiness to countless family gatherings. Her kitchen was always filled with laughter and the aroma of her special recipes, making every meal a cherished memory.    

Inez was a devoted member of North River Methodist Church, where she found strength in her faith. In her younger years, she enjoyed singing in the church choir, always happy and with a song in her heart.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Angela Baker McDaniel (Alan) of Beaufort and Rodney Baker (Dolores) of Beaufort; brother, Henry Smith of Beaufort; grandchildren, Heather Rose, Travis Baker, Shannon Caton, Shawna Goodwin, Michael Baker Jr. and Kelly Mayo; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Inez was preceded in death by her beloved husband Wilbur Gold Baker who passed away in April of this year; her son, Michael Kent Baker, and several loving brothers and sisters.
