Ina Mae Russell Willis

Ina Mae Russell Willis, 86, of Stacy, passed away at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Her funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Ernest Laxton of Stacy Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member.  Interment will follow at Stacy Community Cemetery in Stacy.
In 1954, Ina left her Harkers Island home on Red Hill to marry the love of her life, Roy Hilton Willis. She became a housewife and a partner, to a collector and decoy carver where she traveled all along the eastern seaboard and met many lifelong friends.  Ina enjoyed traveling and seeing new places and she and Roy often went on group tours after he retired.  She was a lifetime member of the Core Sound Decoy Guild and Core Sound Waterfowl Museum where she spent many hours enjoying the company of their friends.

Ina loved bird watching and always kept numerous feeders on her back porch, so she could enjoy their beauty. She also loved the beauty of flowers and kept beautiful flower gardens as long as her health would allow.  She was also an avid doll collector.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Lura Jean Robinson and husband, Dan, of Ocracoke, Myrtle Lee Lawrence of Otway, Judy Willis of Clayton, Debbie Russell of Beaufort; brother-in-law, Don Coats of South River; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her caregivers, Mrs. Treva Nelson of Stacy, Mrs. Sheila Robinson of Stacy, and Mrs. Audrey Salter of Davis.

She was preceded in death by her loving and caring husband of 58 years, Roy Hilton Willis; parents, Johnnie Russell and Nina Lewis Russell; sisters, Catherine Thomas and Iris Coats; and brothers, Jack Russell, Lannie Russell, Donnie Russell.

There will be a time of visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made be made to Stacy Free Will Baptist Church at 1290 US 70, Stacy, NC  28581 or Core Sound Waterfowl Museum at P O Box 556, Harkers Island, NC  28531.
