Horace Player

Mr. Horace Player, 79, of Beaufort, died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Carteret General Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011 at eleven o’clock in Core Creek United Methodist Church. Pastor Para Drake will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.

Mr. Player was retired from the U. S. Air Force having served twenty-two years and was a member of the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Fredrika “Freddie” Player of Beaufort; three daughters, Patricia Edna Cayton of Winterville; Susan Kay Merrell of Beaufort; Janet Louise Cannon of Bettie; two sons, William Horace Player of O’Fallon, Illinois; James Horace Player of Newport; seven grandchildren, David Player, Justin Player, Michael Player, Gretchen Cayton, Jameson Merrell, Alex Merrell and Christopher Cannon; two great-grandchildren: Hilton Cayton and Brody Player.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Core Creek United Methodist Church, 124 Hardesty Loop Road, Newport, North Carolina 28570.
