Hiram Dwight Gillikin, 91, of Otway, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at Carteret General Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 11:30 am Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Otway Christian Church with Rev. Jack Mumford officiating. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens.
Hiram was a WWII veteran, serving his country in the US Army. He was a Masonic brother of Franklin Lodge for over 50 years, and lifelong carpenter.
He is survived by a son Mark Gillikin of Otway; three daughters Cheryl Jones of Raleigh, Linda Burns and husband Willie of Morehead City, and Tracy House and husband Kevin of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Allison Burns, Brantley Burns, Damian House, and Kayla House Chumley; and two sisters Ellen Lawrence of Otway, and Marie Stafford of Morehead City.
He was preceded in death by his wife Iva L. Gillikin, and a son Michael G. Gillikin.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Monday at Munden Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Emergency Room, and third floor PCU unit of Carteret General Hospital, and Bayada Home Health for the care they provided. The family also appreciates the excellent care and compassion Hiram received from Snug Harbor.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in the memory of his son Michael Gillikin to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation 230 East Ohio St. Suite 304 Chicago, Ill 60611-3201.
