Hilton Louis Tetterton

Hilton Louis Tetterton, 82, of Atlantic Beach, peacefully passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 in his home surrounded by family.
He was a long time resident of Bethel and Atlantic Beach. Hilton served as a Chaplain's Assistant in Korea and was discharged from the Army in 1950 when he immidetley married his high school sweetheart Jo Ann Crisp Tetterton of Bethel. Hilton was a past member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church and a Charter Member and long time Deacon of Bogue Banks Baptist Church. He was active in missions work and was counted on by many. Hilton was a successful businessman working as a general contractor most of his life. He also owned and operated the Blue Marlin Motel in Atlantic Beach as well as Harbourside Storage and Marina.
Hilton and his wife Jo Ann spent their life dedicated to serving God and serving others. That was seen through the many lives they touched. Hilton was the quiet before the storm, during the storm and he was the quiet after the storm. He was a kind and gentle man. He loved the water and he loved to fish.
Hilton is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jo Ann Crisp Tetterton; his sons, Hilton Louis Tetterton, Jr. and Michael Leamon Tetterton and wife Sharon Byrd Tetterton; 6 grandchildren Josh, Jill, Leslie, Christopher, Taylor and Jordan; and 8 great grandchildren Ian, Haley, Mathis, Isaac, Violet, Rose, Finley and Laelyn.
The service will be held at Bogue Banks Baptist Church, Monday, October 28, 2013 at 12:00 noon. Time with the family and lunch will be served immediately following the service for all attending. A graveside service will be held in Bethel on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Bogue Banks Baptist Church at PO Box 2988 Atlantic Beach, NC 28512.
