Hilaria Schwarzenstein, 71, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Hilaria was visiting her oldest daughter, Cheryl and her grandson, Mac when an acute onset illness came upon her and took her from her family. 

A graveside service to honor Hilaria’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 16th at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport, NC. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

Hilaria was born on November 2, 1953, in Zamboanguita, in the province of Negros Oriental, in the Philippines. She was the cherished daughter of the late Genaro Quirit and Bonifacia Delmo. 

A devout Catholic woman, Hilaria found great comfort and strength in her faith. She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, IA, and St. Egbert Catholic Church in Morehead City, NC.

Hilaria was an avid lover of the outdoors. In her free time, she enjoyed the serenity of the beach and the thrill of fishing, always appreciating the beauty of nature. Her passion for shooting pool and bowling provided not only enjoyment but also opportunities to create fun memories with her friends and family.

Above all, Hilaria will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife of 29 years, a caring mother, a proud grandmother, and a trusted friend. Her warm spirit and compassionate heart touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Wesley “Wes” Schwarzenstein of Marion, IA; daughters, Cheryl “Che” Baysden of Chapel Hill, NC, and Stacey “Stace” Schwarzenstein of Marion, IA; sisters, Monica Delmo Sarga and Pacita Delmo Sarga, both of the Philippines; brother, Sabino Delmo of the Philippines; grandchildren, Maurice “Mac” King Allen Taylor and Joella “JoJo” Faith-Ann Baysden; and her furry friends, her dogs, Misty and Sebastein, and cats, Fierce and Simba.

In addition to her parents, Hilaria was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan “Peanut” Allen Taylor Jr.
