Henry Clay Wynne

Henry Clay Wynne, 92, of Beaufort, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday at Straits United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Durner officiating. Interment will follow at Straits UMC Cemetery.

Clay was raised in Havelock United Methodist Church, then upon his arrival to Straits he became a member of Straits United Methodist Church. He was a brother in Freemasonary for over 60 years. He served in WWII with the US Army, and served as Mayor and first town manager of Havelock. He co-owned Wynne Brother's Texaco in Havelock for over 25 years,

He is survived by a daughter Donna Wynne of Straits; two granddaughters Ginny Garner Taylor and husband Chris of Straits, and Wendy Garner Paschal and husband Robert of New Bern; four great grandchildren Robby, Gina, Thomas, and Savannah; and multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janice Lockey Wynne, and parents Walter and Maude Wynne.

Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 pm Wednesday at Munden Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Straits United Methodist Cemetery Fund 311 Straits Rd. Beaufort, NC 28516, or Snug Harbor 272 Hwy 70 Sea Level, NC 28557.
