Helen Louise Sowers, 85, of Beaufort, died Wednesday, January 5, 2010, at Taylor Extended Care Facility of Sea Level.
Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday in Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Hooper and Pastor Eddie Brookshire officiating. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Sowers was born June 9, 1925 in Hamilton County, IN. She moved with her family to NC in 1955. She spent most of her life as a stay-at-home mom, caring for and raising her six children. She loved holidays when all the family would gather at her home and just have a good time together. She enjoyed crafts, bingo, puzzles, and watching television. She spent the last years of her life at Taylor Extended Care where she was loved and well cared for. She was well known by the staff for her spunkiness.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marcia Pruett and husband, Bob, and Patty Lupton and husband, William of Beaufort; two sons, Mike Sowers and fiancée, Tina Baanders, and Phil Sowers and fiancée, Bert Larson of Beaufort; son-in-law, David Taylor of Beaufort; brother, Raymond Stewart of IN; sister, Sue Mitchell of Rocky Point, NC; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Sowers; son, Danny Sowers; daughter, Linda Taylor; parents, Paul and Marie Stewart; and three sisters, Mary Millikan, Martha Spelbring, and Ruth Beauchamp.
The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saturday at Munden Funeral Home.
