Helen Alfred Clemenic, 95, of Havelock, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Cherry Point Bay Nursing and Rehab Center.
The family will announce at a later time a date when they plan to gather to lay Helen’s ashes to rest beside her beloved Steve Clemenic at Oak Grove Church on Adams Creek Road.
Helen was born on October 2, 1925, in Pamlico County, North Carolina, to the late Fredrick and Christine Alfred. She loved her family with all her heart and soul! She loved for people to visit with her so she could regale them with stories of her life. She told how she used to drive a school bus the last year she was in high school and how every cold morning, her daddy would go out and start the bus for her to make sure it was running good. Also, how she came to work on the base at F.R.C. East, Cherry Point Base in Havelock, NC, which is where she met the love of her life, Steve Clemenic. They were married just over 50 years. She also told about Hurricane Iona in 1955, which claimed the life of her beloved daddy, Fredrick, just one short month before he was able to celebrate he and his grandson Steven’s first birthday together as they were both born on October 14th.
She is survived by her son, Steven Clemenic and wife Cindy of Havelock; daughter-in-law, Sheila Clemenic of Havelock which is her late son Ashley’s wife; sister, Jean Rogers of Pamlico County; grandchildren, Heather Clemenic of Emerald Isle, Ashley Sue Schulze and husband Jarrod of Waxhaw, Steve Bernon and wife Ashley of Havelock; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Clemenic, Jace Edwards, Landon Schulze, Jaxson Schulze, Hailey Clemenic, Amelia Clemenic, and Owen Clemenic; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Steve Clemenic; son, Ashley Steven Clemenic; and sisters, Nellie Adore Holton, Bea VanDiver, and Hilda Whitfield.
The family would like to thank Linda Allen who lovingly took care of Helen the last few years that Helen was still able to live at home on Paradise Drive. And finally, a very special thank you to all the employees and staff at Cherry Point Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent and loving care that they gave Helen the last year and half of her life.
