Helen Whitfield Britt, 82, of Havelock passed away Monday, November 30, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, December 3, 2015 at First United Methodist of Havelock with Rev. William A. Boykin and H. Charles Davis officiating.
Helen was born in Bethel, NC on August 19, 1933 to the late Thomas and Lily Whitfield. At the age of 14, she and her two brothers, Jim and Robert went to live at the Methodist Orphanage in Raleigh, and that is where she met her husband, William Britt.
She enjoyed singing soprano, gardening, and sitting in her swing in her beautiful backyard watching the birds on her many feeders. She loved to spend time with family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She has been a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1959. She loved Jesus with all of her heart, and her Bible group, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with every breath she took.
She is survived by her husband of over 62 years, William D. Britt of the home; two sons, William D. Britt, Jr. and wife Lela Britt of Morehead City, and Michael Thomas Britt of New Bern; daughter, Barbara Britt Hall and husband Randy E. Hall of Havelock; grandchildren, William D. Britt, III of Morehead City, Jeffrey L. Britt of Morehead City, Randy E. Hall, Jr. and wife Michelle Hall of Atlantic Beach, and Jonathan Britt Hall and wife Noel Hall of Havelock; great-grandchildren, Hudson Britt of Morehead City, Carter William Hall, and Waylin Hall; and brother, Robert Whitfield and wife Mildred Whitfield of Chino Valley, AZ.
As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Whitfiled.
The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday at Munden Funeral Home.
