Hassell William Carroll, 83, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

His funeral service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Bogue Banks Baptist Church in Atlantic Beach, officiated by Reverend Ed Renfrow, Reverend Patrick Williams and Reverend Stephen Bath. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Hassell was a member of Bogue Banks Baptist Church and also attended Davis Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of the South Hills Exxon in Cary, NC for 20 years. Hassell worked with the State of North Carolina for 18 years. He was also a charter boat captain for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice “Bunny” Giblin Carroll of the home; sons, Michael Carroll and wife, Jo of Newport, Marshall Carroll and wife Michelle Kibler Carroll of Cary; sister, Mary Lee of Southern Pines; brother, Robert Carroll of Lillington; grandsons, Brandon Carroll, Justin Carroll; step-grandsons, Dayton Kibler, Landon Kibler; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Kinsley, Easton.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Carroll; sisters, Ruby Jenkins, Evelyn Morgan; and brother, James Carroll.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Bogue Banks Baptist Church.
