Harvey C. Davis, 85, of Harkers Island, passed away July 1, 2017 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
Funeral service will be held Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Free Grace Wesleyan Church on Harkers Island, officiated by Pastor Clinton Nelson. Burial will follow at Vergie Mae on Harkers Island.
Harvey was born on Harkers Island at home to Stacy and Sara L. Davis on July 7, 1931. He married Mary Sue Nelson in 1955. Harvey served his country in the Coast Guard and worked Civil Service at Fort Macon then, Cherry Point for many years. He also worked in the family business but his great love was building boats and working on engines. Harvey was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge #109 and a longtime member of Free Grace Wesleyan Church of Harkers Island.
He is survived by his daughters, Faith D. Barbour and husband Terry of Atlantic Beach, Lisa D. Hughes and husband Jim of Newport; sons, Victor C. Davis and Walter Jack Davis of Harkers Island, Sonny N. Davis and wife Amanda of Raleigh; sisters, Virginia Dare Guthrie, Rebecca M. Willis, Leona Hall and husband Sid all of Harkers Island; brothers, Leslie M. “Sonny” Davis and wife, Joyce of Morehead City; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stacy W. and Sarah H. Lewis Davis; wife Mary Sue Davis; sisters, Norma Sara Jarvis, Hilda P. Willis and Ella F. Willis; brothers, Jack R. Davis, William Oliver Davis, Bertram M. Davis and Stacy M. Davis.
Family will see friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home.
