Harvey Edward "Eddie" Boyd, Jr.

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Harvey Edward Boyd, Jr., “Eddie”, 69, of Newport, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center.

Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.  A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Newport.

Born in Morehead City, NC, he was the son of Harvey Boyd, Sr. and Betty Franks Boyd.  He attended West Carteret High School.  He retired from the NCDOT after over 40 years of service.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and living his life to the fullest every day.  He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis Boyd, of the home; sister, Jean Brouillard, of Newport; sons Jamie Boyd, Chris Boyd, and Richie Boyd, of Newport; two daughters-in-law, Lisa Boyd and Vancy Boyd, of Newport; two granddaughters, Samantha Boyd and Kyndel Boyd, of Newport; and many lifelong coworkers and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Betty Franks Boyd and Harvey Boyd, Sr.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to Newport Little League, Newport Girls Softball League, or Carteret Health Care Cancer Center.
