Harvey “Wayne” Beasley, Sr., 86, of Morehead City, NC died in his home surrounded by family the morning of May 16, 2016.

A funeral service honoring Wayne’s life of love and service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City.  Interment will immediately follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

A founding and faithful member of the Morehead City Church of Christ, Wayne was active in serving the church and community.  As one of the oldest acting members of the Morehead Noon Rotary Club, Wayne encouraged and supported the next generation of leaders.  During his later years, he enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels where he was able to help those in the community that could not help themselves.

From Wisdom, Kentucky, Wayne lived in Morehead City for 62 years following his draft into the US Marine Corp in 1952.  During his time in the service, he was stationed at Cherry Point where he managed the radio communications.  His radio expertise led him to Baltimore, MD, employed for Glenn L. Martin Company to work on the first pilotless missile called the “Matador Missile Project”.  Following his time at Glenn L. Martin, he returned to Morehead City where he opened Beasley’s TV, selling and servicing Morehead’s first color televisions. He sold the business in 1970 and later opened Parkway TV.  Wayne retired from the TV business in 1991 and has since restored numerous antique radios for collectors and car owners throughout the country.  He enjoyed restoring, driving and showing classic and antique cars and was a charter member in the Morehead City Antique Auto Club.

Wayne was known to his family and friends as a humble, hardworking, honorable, loving, supportive and proud husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He will be deeply missed by his dear wife of 66 years, Frances Ramey Beasley and all who loved him dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Ramey Beasley; son, Harvey Wayne Beasley Jr. and wife Louise of Havelock NC; daughter, Pamela Beasley McAfee and husband Michael of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth James of Richmond, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carlie Milton Beasley; mother, Katie Pearl Dilly Beasley; siblings, Lester Beasley, Owen Beasley, Ruby Gibbons, Harry Beasley, Lucille Beasley, Roy Beasley, and Delsie Beasley.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to Carteret Health Care Cancer Center, P.O. Box 1619, Morehead City, NC 28557.
