Harry Smith

Lcdr. Harry Dean Smith, USCG ret., 77, of Morehead City died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at Carteret General Hospital.

He was a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine and retired from the US Coast Guard after 24 years of service.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, August 29, at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nelson Hopkins officiating.

Harry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Connie Smith, and son, Steven Smith, of the home; five daughters, Stacey Smith Cloutier and husband Harris of Strongsville, Ohio, Dale Smith Foley and husband Don of Houston, Texas, Darlene Smith Freeman and husband Jeff of Houston, Texas, Linda Smith Porter and husband Garry of Elon, North Carolina, and Valerie Smith Collins and husband David of Orange Park, Florida; twenty-five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one sister Jean Smith Lundien and husband Eric of Houston, Texas; and two nieces.

Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
